The Blue Horizon Remodel
Overland Park, KS
Sometimes one design decision unlocks an entire space.
The homeowners knew their angled kitchen island wasn’t working, but correcting it meant addressing something they had hoped to keep—the existing flooring. Once we made the decision to invest in new natural white oak hardwoods, the possibilities for the entire kitchen and adjoining dining space opened up.
We straightened and reworked the island to create a cleaner, more functional layout, then refreshed the kitchen with updated cabinet fronts, quartz countertops, backsplash, hardware, and lighting. The new white oak floors became the foundation that visually connected the spaces and brought warmth throughout the main level.
In the adjoining dining and living areas, new furnishings, window treatments, and colorful accessories were selected with this lively family in mind—comfortable and durable enough for everyday life, but polished enough for the gatherings and celebrations that happen here often.
The result is a warm, connected main level that works better, feels bigger, and finally gives this family a beautiful backdrop for everyday life.
